Podcasts: What’s on my list
Podcasts are such a great medium. They allow us to dive deep into the raw thoughts of so many amazing and inspiring people. It’s probably the most powerful medium out there to connect us on a deeper level.
A great one makes you motivated to take on the next challenge, gives you empathy, and/or keeps you thinking long after it’s over. Below I’ll share a few that did just that for me.
I really only listen to non-fiction podcasts, and pretty much always a conversation between two people. I love the format. You really feel like you know a big part of someone after listening to a 2 or 3 hour interview.
Here are the main topics I’m currently into:
- Life inspiration and wellness
- How people think
- Health and nutrition
- Startups / tech
- Religion (a new one for me learning about history, genesis, and importance of religion in our culture, since I did not grow up religious)
These are my top shows so far:
- Rich Roll
- Knowledge Project with Shane Parrish
- Tim Ferris
- Joe Rogan
- Making Sense with Sam Harris (shoutout to Patty Harks)
- How I Built This with Guy Raz
- Masters of Scale with Reid Hoffman
- 99% Invisible
And some specific episodes I highly recommend (not in a specific order, but if you’re reading this you should just listen to all of them – put it on 1.5x speed and you’ll get through! I’m sure I’m missing great ones too):
- Rich Roll
- James Clear on Forming Habits (never miss twice)
- Ryan Holiday on Why the Obstacle is the Way
- Jack Dorsey (Crazy habits and his thoughts on how social media should change)
- Joe Rogan
- Naval Ravikant (CEO and Co-founder of AngelList)
- Michael Pollan on Psychedelics
- Tim Ferris
- Essentialism (and how to get over giving things up)
- Seth Godin (spreading ideas and becoming an entrepreneur – inspired my 30 blogs in 30 days)
- Knowledge Project with Shane Parrish
- How I Built This
- Sam Harris
- Reid Hoffman – Masters of Scale
- Bonus
- Michael Gervais on Sports Psychology (on Dax Sheppard)
- Technology mindfulness and phone free events (GoBrickNow)
